I am a lawyer specializing in administrative law. My practice focuses on professional regulation, employment, labour and human rights issues. I work with professional regulatory bodies, public and private sector employers, unions and individuals.
I advise on discipline and work performance issues, workplace accommodation and human rights matters. I also frequently conduct workplace discrimination and harassment investigations. I act for both employers and employees in wrongful terminations and represent clients before tribunals and in the courts on labour and employment issues.
I am an experienced prosecutor in professional disciplinary matters for police departments and professional regulatory bodies. I also advise investigators, defend professionals facing misconduct allegations and act as legal counsel to discipline tribunals.
I am frequently called on to advise on issues related to cannabis in the workplace. I advise on policy development, disciplinary issues and accommodation for medical cannabis users. I also speak at conferences and have hosted web-based seminars on this issue.
Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, I am fluent in French. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and a Bachelor of Laws from Queens University. I was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1994 and the British Columbia Bar in 2007.
I split my time between North Vancouver and Whistler where my wife and I spend most of our time chasing our young daughter on skis or mountain bikes. Community plays an important role in my life whether I’m playing jazz guitar with my neighbour down the street or sharing my 20-years of tai chi practice at local festivals. I’ve spent more than ten years as a volunteer ski patroller as well as sat on boards for the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association and the Alpine Club of Canada. I care about the outdoors, people and good coffee.
