“Protecting everyone, by enforcing your rights.”
I am passionate about fighting for employee-rights in the workplace and helping ordinary people navigate challenging workplace situations. We all deserve dignity, and to be treated fairly. I love getting great results for my clients, and also knowing that each time I help enforce an individual employee’s rights, I am also encouraging better treatment of employees generally in society.
In my practice I tackle any kind of issue that arises in the workplace, including wrongful dismissals and severance reviews; constructive dismissals; human rights issues; contractual disputes; allegations of just cause; non-competition or non-solicitation agreements; and workplace investigations; as well as long-term or short-term disability insurance appeals or litigation.
For many years I have focused on representing employees in negotiations or litigation against employers or insurance companies. Prior to that, however, I was General Counsel for a technology start-up, and worked for small full-service law firms in all manners of litigation. I was called to the bar in Alberta in 2012, in British Columbia in 2013, and in Ontario in 2014 (now retired in Ontario). Prior to joining HHBG’s Vancouver office I helped grow the premier plaintiff-oriented employment law firm in Alberta, and helped countless people navigate their workplace issues. Prior to my legal career, I lived and worked in Taiwan, China, and India for several years.
When I am not working, I enjoy hiking, nature, and spending time with friends and family. I’m only slightly obsessed with stand-up comedy, and I also enjoy creative writing and the arts. Due to Covid-19, I have embarked on a goal to learn to play the guitar, which promises to be a very long journey indeed given my total lack of any natural musical talent. Nonetheless, I laugh on.
